Ping G440 Irons- Steel
40845
Regular price £749.00The G440 iron is a distance-driven design that best fits golfers in need of game-improvement technology who prefer the influence of a players-style shape. Increased ball speed comes from the thinner face and the low/back CG location – resulting in higher- launching, longer-carrying shots with stopping power. The shallow face and head size present an eye-catching design, complemented by chrome finishes on the back and inside the PurFlex cavity badge that add to its premium appearance. The cavity-back design ensures forgiveness and consistency to find more greens with a pleasing feel and sound. Longer-length 4, 5 and 6 irons help launch shots higher and provide more consistent gaps. The four-wedge system improves gapping and simplifies wedge choices.
Thinner, Shallower Face
The shallower face allows us to make it 9% thinner than its predecessor for increased ball speed across the face and provides a more player-preferred look at address.
Low CG System, High MOI
The face height and thickness reduction save approximately 4g per iron, which is placed lower and farther back in the head, lowering the CG for more ball speed and ensuring forgiveness.
PurFlex Cavity Badge
The 4-piece molded PurFlex cavity badge is more flexible than previous designs, expanding and contracting to support the thinner face while contributing to more ball speed and enhancing feel and sound.
Premium Cosmetics
A chrome finish on the back of the head and inside the cavity badge provide an eye-catching, high-quality premium appearance.
Players-Inspired Look
The shallower face height, shorter blade length and thin top line have the look of a players iron but deliver the forgiveness and consistency of a game-improvement design.
Improved Set Gapping
Adding 1/8" in length to the 4, 5 and 6 irons helps golfers create more ball speed to launch their long irons higher, creating more consistent distance gaps.
Re-configured Wedge Options
Reducing the number of wedges from five to four (PW, UW, 52°, 56°) and modifying their lofts improves gapping and simplifies wedge choice. The 56° is inspired by the iconic EYE2 sand wedge with its bounce profile, sole design, and hosel shaped to help golfers of all skill levels escape bunkers.
New AWT 3.0 Shaft (Regular, Stiff, X-Stiff)
The nonlinear weight progression of the AWT 3.0 produces lighter long-iron shafts for more speed and max height. The short-iron shafts progress heavier to give golfers more control and precision.

Notes
- These are design specifications that may vary due to manufacturing tolerances.
- Lie angle is based on Black Colour Code at standard length.
- Power Spec Loft is a fitting option for players looking to boost their iron distance or decrease spin to hit a desired trajectory window. The Power Spec is a custom-designed loft configuration that delivers a power boost in a calculated fashion without sacrificing the integrity of the club’s design.
- Retro Spec Loft is a fitting option if you’re less concerned with overall distance and more with precision and a higher trajectory for more stopping power. This loft configuration yields functional distance gaps for utilizing a 3-wedge setup or a more classic loft spec.
- Club bounce angles will vary slightly if ordered with non-standard loft specs.
- Standard swingweights for graphite-shafted clubs are 1 to 2 points lighter than shown, depending on shaft flex.
- Achievable swingweights depend on shaft and grip combinations.
- Available in left- and right-handed models.
Fitting Shafts:
The G440 fairway advances PING’s reputation as a Tour-preferred model of choice through a re-designed face structure and low CG system. The face is taller for more confidence off the tee while maintaining a CG location that delivers high- launching performance off the ground. The face thickness is optimised in the heel and toe regions for more consistent performance on on-centre strikes. Each model is designed to fit a specific player type with a head profile engineered to provide launch conditions that best match a player’s swing. The MAX model (which fits most golfers) is available in five lofts (including a new 4-wood) to provide more gapping solutions.
Free-Hosel Technology
By removing 11.5 grams from the hosel, screw, and heel section of the MAX models, mass savings help create a 4% taller face while maintaining CG height. A taller face increases player confidence off the tee, and a low CG preserves high launch off the turf.
Contoured Sole Design
Slimming down the back-weight profile ensures that the club sits more flush to the ground and the face angle remains consistent – no matter the loft or lie setting – allowing golfers to benefit from the multiple loft and lie options provided by the adjustable hosel.
CarbonFly Wrap Crown
The CarbonFly Wrap crown saves weight, which is re-allocated to help lower the CG, ensure forgiveness and contribute to a more muted, pleasing sound at impact.
Trajectory Tuning 2.0 Adjustable Hosel
The lightweight, 8-position hosel enables adjustments for loft (±1.5°) and lie (up to 3° flatter than std.) to further dial in ball flight for the best results.

Notes
- These are design specifications that may vary due to manufacturing tolerances.
- Standard length is based on the Alta CB Blue 65 shaft.
- Standard swingweight for the MAX HL (High Launch) build with the ALTA Quick shaft is C9 in the 35 and D0 in the 45.
- Lie angle is an average of the five adjustable loft positions indicated on the hosel.
- Achievable swingweights depend on shaft and grip combinations.
- Available in left- and right-handed models.
