The G740 iron is meticulously designed to offer a remarkable fusion of distance, forgiveness, and consistency, making it an exceptional selection for golfers seeking a super-game-improvement iron.
With a wider sole width that is 22% larger compared to the G440, alongside a 3% longer blade length and a thicker topline, the G740 maximises perimeter weighting. This design effectively lowers the centre of gravity (CG), resulting in an increased moment of inertia (MOI) that provides impressive forgiveness, higher launch angles, and retention of ball speeds even on mishits. The length progression of ¾" from the 5- to 6-iron optimally aids in launching shots higher and farther.
The innovative dual-camber sole of the G740 iron strategically positions the CG further down and back, yielding consistent ball speeds and elevated launch heights for golfers who typically strike the ball low on the face. This dual-camber architecture also enhances the club's ability to move smoothly through the turf, making it more user-friendly.
The G740 iron’s design incorporates a shallower face height and a shorter hosel, resulting in weight savings that permit mass redistribution towards the back of the cavity. This improvement contributes to superior sound and feel while ensuring a high MOI. The thin and flexible face is reinforced by a newly engineered three-piece PurFlex cavity badge, which effectively dampens vibrations, significantly enhancing the impact experience.
